Our research group at UVA explores novel physics and applications of optical microresonators and optical frequency combs in both classical and quantum regimes. Optical microresonators can confine optical energy in small dielectric structures, which enables optical power to build up for nonlinear optic effects. Optical microresonators have broad applications in sensing, nonlinear optics, optical frequency combs, and quantum optics. Our group explores both the soliton regime and the quantum regime of optical-microresonator-based frequency combs and their applications in quantum computing, microwave photonics, and precision metrology.
